Not that it's at all the end-game of purchases, but the value is through the roof.

In the past, I would not have suggested Komplete as a starting point for someone who had only that amount of money to spend in the first place. This current version, which is sure to be bloat-y to some, is more the result of it being an overwhelmingly large offering, more-so than ever. Either that, or I just wasn't interested in some of the offerings at all. Like, glad to have this Akoustik Guitar, because I had no other options, but also couldn't wait to get a "real" version to replace it. Sure, things got used, but it always felt like I was using tools that were a C-grade. Back then, I thought it would be nice to have the extras, and it sort-of was, but I felt that there was a lot of bloat in it and nearly nothing of the included libraries really got me too terribly excited.

When I bought my first Komplete, it was probably ver5 I think, and it was really just a way to get more bonus material when either buying Kontakt or upgrading it, I don't remember. I also, just as I was writing this, kept referencing back to Native Access to see what else I wanted to mention, and I then ran across Thrill. It's just a nice specialty tools that as someone who is constantly trying to create non-descript atmospheres of sound, couldn't be much happier. I could listen to some of Arkhis' patches for 20 minutes at a time.

Maybe others would really miss that, but for my general style of emotional, minimalist scoring with piano, pretty much every one of these is a home run! Sorry for all the exclamations but seriously, just gorgeous! Then there are all the snapshots/patches for each, and those are crazy good as well, going deep into sound design territory and cinematic super-cool-ness. They don't all smack super bright and hard when you lay into them, but I don't really think these are marketed that way. This feels like a complete revolution! I mean, they seriously got the dynamics just right for me on the soft-end of things. did I say Holy Shit yet?! The pianos in earlier versions of Komplete (9 or earlier) were so stiff, non-dynamic, and seemingly one-dimensional. The Pianos.holy shit! Just briefly auditioning each one, other than Una Corda, which I'll instal later today. I really think that even though it doesn't have nearly the articulations, Cremona sounds every bit as good. The Cremona Quartet has a really nice sound, and even though I have the full line of Chris Hein Solo Strings, this will definitely come in handy just for ease-of-use. I always gave some love to Alicia's Keys, but those two were the main things I used, other than Kontakt of course, for 80% of my workflow.Īll that said, this collection has some seriously beautiful instruments. I remember older KU coming with Damage, which in the day, was a huge deal and I still use that a lot, but I always felt like the rest was really really vanilla. I mainly upgraded because I wanted Emotive Strings, thought Arkhis would be cool (which it totally is for me), and I was definitely interested in the Cremona Quartet as well as Noire and several other titles. I've barely gotten into the differences and honestly, it's a bit overwhelming, even keeping track or trying to count the additions and improvements.
